Director-General Pascal Lamy, in his intervention during the
OECD Ministerial Council Meeting in
Paris on 5 June
2008, announced the start of "intensive engagement by senior
officials" in Geneva next week. He said the severe worsening of the
economic climate, high commodity prices, and the "technical
maturity" of the Doha negotiations seem to be moving WTO members to
the "moment of truth".
